Braving the Winter Chill:  Participants Join the Maria Social Welfare Foundation’s First “Maria Angels Charity Run”

On Sunday, December 15, 2024, the Maria Social Welfare Foundation hosted its inaugural “Maria Angels Charity Run” at Taichung Central Park. Despite the chilly weather, participants were filled with warmth and joy, inspired by this remarkable charity event as Gemtek employees and fellow runners came together to support the cause.

The event brought together around 2,500 participants from all over, along with 200 families with children diagnosed with cerebral palsy or other physical and intellectual disabilities, all united by a spirit of love and compassion. The venue provided an inclusive setting with accessible race routes, allowing everyone to participate without barriers. From runners giving their best to families and friends cheering along the course, the atmosphere was filled with warmth, inspiration, and positive energy. Gemtek participants shared that they were grateful to take part in such a meaningful charity run that embodied love, hope, and community spirit.

Besides the charity run, several performers with intellectual disabilities were also invited on stage to share their love for music and dance. The audience was captivated as they enjoyed the beautiful melodies and witnessed each “Little Angel” move around confidently under the spotlight. A Christmas market was also set up nearby, where several social welfare organizations offered handmade crafts, hand-made bread, charity merchandise, and interactive experiences. It was not only a wonderful opportunity to support charitable causes but also a chance to appreciate the dedication and perseverance behind every “Little Angel’s” journey.

Through this event, Gemtek employees not only had the chance to take part in a meaningful act of charity, but also extended their personal support to those in need. The experience served as a heartfelt reminder of the true power of love and compassion, reinforcing our commitment to continue giving back to society.
