Occupational Health and Safety Management System
Gemtek has implemented the ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System at its headquarters and main manufacturing sites, and has obtained third-party certification. To ensure a safe working environment, the company has established relevant management regulations and regularly reviews system performance. Safety measures include risk management, disaster prevention, and continuous monitoring of the work environment. Additionally, ongoing training programs are in place to minimize health and safety risks for both employees and contractors.
Occupational Health and Safety Committee
To ensure a comfortable and safe working environment and to foster effective communication between labor and management, Gemtek has established relevant committees at its various facilities. These include the Occupational Health and Safety Committee at the Gemtek Taiwan Headquarters, the Environment, Occupational Health and Safety Management Committee at Gemtek Vietnam, and the Production Safety Committees at the Mainland China plants. These committees are composed of representatives from all levels of management, health and safety personnel, medical staff, and employee representatives. At the Taiwan Headquarters, on-site contractors are also invited to participate. Quarterly meetings are held to actively engage workers in the planning and operation of safety and health systems, review management policies, ensure regulatory compliance, and evaluate the effectiveness of these measures. The outcomes of these meetings are communicated to employees through meeting minutes, posters, or newsletters, promoting transparency and continuous improvement in safety and health management.
Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment
Commitment to Employee Health and Safety in the Workplace
Gemtek is dedicated to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by regularly carrying out hazard identification and risk assessments every year. The company’s Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) team reviews these assessments to determine the risk levels, guiding the necessary control and improvement measures.
Scope of Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment
The scope of hazard identification and risk assessment at Gemtek encompasses all potential health and safety risks, both inside and outside the facility. This includes routine and non-routine activities, all personnel entering the premises (including contractors and visitors), and outsourced labor. A management representative oversees and approves these processes, followed by detailed risk assessments conducted by each department.
Management Review and Risk Standards
The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) team holds regular management review meetings to discuss, modify, and approve newly identified risks. Existing risks that require modifications are also revised. Risk level standards and control measures are reviewed and updated annually to meet corporate needs.
Risk Identification Results
In 2023, the Gemtek Group identified a total of 5 high-risk, 486 medium-risk, and 821 low-risk items. Each facility has proposed corresponding control measures and goals for high-risk operations, which are monitored on a quarterly basis.
Health and Safety Self-Inspections
In addition to regular hazard identification and risk assessments, Gemtek mandates that all departments conduct self-inspections to keep occupational health and safety in check. These inspections include evaluating hazard factors within the facility to identify potential risks across various departments, helping to prevent workplace accidents.

In 2023, Gemtek Technology's Taiwan Headquarters reported one cutting injury incident, with the affected individual fully recovered. To prevent similar incidents in the future, a thorough investigation was conducted, and the following measures were implemented:

Occupational Safety Training and Emergency Drills
To enhance safety awareness and emergency response skills, Gemtek follows occupational health and safety training regulations. New employees receive comprehensive safety training upon hiring, and current employees participate in regular safety training sessions, including specialized courses on solvent handling and position-specific safety protocols. The company also maintains dedicated fire safety protocols, including forming first responder units, evacuation guides, and first aid teams. Gemtek conducts fire safety training twice a year, and holds full scale disaster response drills annually. These drills simulate various scenarios such as fires, earthquakes, typhoons, and chemical incidents, helping employees improve their hazard recognition and emergency response capabilities.
All training is conducted during working hours, ensuring that participation does not result in wage deductions, salary reductions, or leave penalties.
2023 Results:
Occupational health and safety training achieved a 100% participation rate, with all employees successfully passing the assessments.
A total of 7,090 individuals attended the safety training sessions, totaling 22,068 hours of training.
